Delta and Alpha Aviation host Grand Re-Opening Event

Alpha Aviation and The Corporation of Delta marked the grand re-opening of Boundary Bay Airport on June 25th with a ceremony honouring the past, present and future of the Boundary Bay Airport. Mayor Lois Jackson expressed her support and enthusiasm for the future of the airport and along with Alpha Chair Fred Kaiser and other dignitaries, cut a ribbon to signal that the airport is re-open for business under new management.
The ceremony also included the presentation of a picture of the graduates of Course 44 who trained at Boundary Bay in December 1941 which was presented by Vic Nordquist of the (801) Wing of the Air Force Association of Canada. Mayor Jackson and Fred Kaiser assisted by Councilor Robert Campbell unveiled a heritage plaque and certificate, declaring Hangar 3 a Delta Heritage Building.
A flying demonstration included fly-pasts of an array of “warbirds” including Harvards, T-28’s, Yaks and other vintage aircraft, signifying the proud past of Boundary Bay airport. Flight schools took part in the flight demonstration to show the community the scope and variety of flight training services that are offered at Boundary Bay. Planes of the future including a Cessna CJ2 corporate jet aircraft gave a flavour of the future potential of the airport. The flight show was capped off by the Fraser Blues, a precision team headed by Langley Airport Manager George Millar. Craft activities for the kids, a museum and historic display rounded out the program.
AVCORP and Cessna celebrate working partnership

On April 26, 2005, Alpha Aviation played host to a celebration by Avcorp Industries and Cessna Aircraft Corporation of a $50 million contract signed between the two companies for the design and production of jet aircraft components for Cessna’s CJ3 aircraft. Federal Minister David Emerson, Provincial Transportation Minister Kevin Falcon, South Delta MLA Val Roddick along with Her Worship Mayor Lois Jackson were on hand to congratulate the two companies. “Boundary Bay Airport is such an appropriate place to hold this event” stated Fred Kaiser, Chairman of Alpha Aviation. “We are truly a Cessna field with over 100 Cessna aircraft calling Boundary Bay Airport home”. Avcorp employees and the invited guests and dignitaries were able to tour the Cessna CJ3 prototype and get a close look at the component parts that Avcorp has designed and fabricated.

On May 7, 2005, the 828 “Hurricane” Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron dedicated a cenotaph remembering the RCAF station at Boundary Bay Airport. Her Worship Mayor Lois Jackson joined by Lynda Hogarth, Board member of Alpha Aviation attended as master of ceremonies Captain Jason White explained the significance of Boundary Bay to the Canadian military efforts of the second world war. Member of Parliament John Cummins and MLS Val Roddick attended also attended the event to pay their respects to the flyers that called Boundary Bay their home.
